Here is all that you need to know about registering for the USMLE and eligibility.<\/p>\n<div  style=' margin-top:30px; margin-bottom:4px;'  class='hr hr-custom hr-center hr-icon-no  0  avia-builder-el-0  el_before_av_heading  avia-builder-el-first '><span class='hr-inner  inner-border-av-border-none' style=' width:50px;' ><span class='hr-inner-style'><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2    avia-builder-el-1  el_after_av_hr  el_before_av_heading  '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >Eligibility Requirements for USMLE Step 1<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p>To be eligible to take Step 1, you must be in one of the following categories at the time of application and on test day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A medical student officially enrolled in, or a graduate of, a U.S. or Canadian medical school program leading to the M.D. degree that is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)<\/li>\n<li>A medical student officially enrolled in, or a graduate of, a U.S. medical school program leading to the D.O. degree that is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)<\/li>\n<li>A medical student officially enrolled in, or a graduate of, a medical school outside the United States and Canada and eligible for examination by the ECFMG for its certificate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Students and graduates of medical schools outside the U. S. and Canada<\/strong> may take Step 1, and Step 2 CK in any sequence.<\/p>\n<p><div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2    avia-builder-el-2  el_after_av_heading  el_before_av_heading  '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >Registration Process for USMLE Step 1<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\nWhen applying for Step 1, you must select a three-month period during which you would like to take the test. A Scheduling Permit with instructions for making an appointment at a Prometric test center will be sent to you after your registration is processed. The Scheduling Permit specifies the three-month eligibility period during which you must complete the examination.<\/p>\n<p>Step 1 is administered in the United States and Canada and in more than 50 other countries by Prometric.
