While the transcript may not be considered\u00a0<a title=\"The Most Important Part of Your Residency Application\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kaptest.com\/blog\/prep\/usmle\/the-most-important-part-of-your-residency-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the most important part of the residency application<\/a>, it can still help program directors learn about the subjects you studied in medical school, how long you studied each subject, and how well you did on your exams.<br \/>\nHere are a few things you\u2019ll want to know about getting your medical school transcripts into the hands of program directors during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaptest.com\/medical-prep\/usmle\/about-residency\">residency application process<\/a>.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h3    avia-builder-el-0  el_before_av_promobox  avia-builder-el-first  '><h3 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >Submitting medical school transcripts for residency applications<\/h3><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)<\/a>\u00a0is the designated dean\u2019s office for all IMGs who use the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aamc.org\/services\/eras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)<\/a>\u00a0to apply for U.S. residency positions. You\u2019ll provide your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaptest.com\/blog\/residency-secrets\/2014\/03\/05\/residency-application-series-letters-of-recommendation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">supporting documents<\/a>\u2014including your medical school transcript\u2014to the ECFMG to transmit to your ERAS application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep in mind that if your medical school takes part in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/eras\/schools-emswp.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ECFMG Medical School Web Portal (EMSWP) ERAS<\/a>\u00a0program, you need to contact the school to have your transcripts submitted through EMSWP ERAS on your behalf.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Contact your school early to request the transcript with plenty of time to spare.\u00a0Once you have the transcript, submit a copy to ERAS Support Services via ECFMG\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oasis2.ecfmg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">On-line Applicant Status and Information System (OASIS)<\/a>\u00a0(ECFMG\u2019s web-based information service for ECFMG applicants).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The transcript needs to include your full name. You\u2019ll also want to avoid using \u201csecurity paper\u201d with a busy background, because it makes the scanned image illegible. Ask your school to copy your transcript onto plain paper.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you\u2019re a transfer student and would like to submit more than one medical school transcript for your ERAS application, scan all the pages of all the transcripts as one file, and upload that file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If your medical school transcript isn\u2019t in English, prepare an English translation. Have it certified as correct by any one of these entities:\n<ul>\n<li>a medical school official such as a dean or registrar<\/li>\n<li>a government official (for example, a consular agent)<\/li>\n<li>a professional translation service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<div  style='background:#c5c5c5;color:#c5c5c5;border-color:#c5c5c5;' class='av_promobox  avia-button-no   avia-builder-el-1  el_after_av_heading  el_before_av_heading '>\t\t<div class='avia-promocontent'><div class='avia-iframe-wrap'><iframe width=\"1500\" height=\"844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jO01w-4AwXs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>\n<\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h3    avia-builder-el-2  el_after_av_promobox  el_before_av_sidebar  '><h3 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >Submitting an English Translation Copy<\/h3><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\nYou\u2019ll submit only the English translation to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/eras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ERAS Support Services at ECFMG<\/a>.<br \/>\nAlthough you may have provided a transcript for ECFMG Certification, you\u2019ll need to resubmit a copy to ERAS Support Services. You can ask the ECFMG to transfer a copy of that document to your ERAS application.<br \/>\nIf you can\u2019t provide a medical school transcript at all, show this on the Additional Documents page of the MyERAS application. Once you do, a neutral placeholder letter will be provided in place of the transcript to all the programs you\u2019re applying to.<br \/>\nThe letter will state, \u201cThis document is provided in lieu of the applicant\u2019s medical school transcript.
