For those of us with disabilities, physical impairments, or other health-related challenges, it can be even more daunting. LSAC, the administrator of the LSAT, is committed to making the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsac-policy-accommodations-test-takers-disabilities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LSAT available to all candidates<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so there are a variety of accommodations you can request to ensure that you have a fair experience with the LSAT. It\u2019s helpful to know beforehand 1) if you qualify for accommodations, 2) what your accommodations will be, and 3) how to submit a request for LSAT accommodations.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h3    avia-builder-el-0  el_before_av_heading  avia-builder-el-first  '><h3 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >1. Do I qualify for LSAT accommodations? <\/h3><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s no set list of disabilities or impairments that qualify someone for accommodations on the LSAT. The LSAC reviews each request for accommodations on a case-by-case basis, so if you have questions about whether or not you qualify, it\u2019s best to request accommodations and see how the LSAC responds.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019ve qualified for LSAT accommodations on a previous LSAT, those same accommodations will be applied to future LSATs. If you\u2019ve qualified for accommodations on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsac-policy-accommodations-test-takers-disabilities\/policy-prior-testing-accommodations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">other standardized postsecondary admissions tests<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, etc.), you may qualify for those same accommodations on the LSAT. You\u2019ll have to provide the letter you received from that test maker specifying the accommodations you were granted.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All other people fall into one of the three following LSAT accommodation request categories:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Category 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The accommodation does not include extended test time.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Category 2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The accommodation includes up to 50% extended test time for candidates without visual impairment, or up to 100% extended test time and an alternative test format for candidates with visual impairment.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Category 3: <\/strong><i>The accommodation includes over 50% extended test time for candidates without visual impairment, or over 100% extended test time and an alternative test format for candidates with visual impairment.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h3    avia-builder-el-1  el_after_av_heading  el_before_av_heading  '><h3 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >2. What will my LSAT accommodations be?<\/h3><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some, but not all, of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsac-policy-accommodations-test-takers-disabilities\/accommodations-may-be-available-lsat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">available LSAT accommodations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manhattanprep.com\/lsat\/blog\/extended-time-on-the-lsat-what-you-need-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Extra time on the test<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (usually no more than 50% extra time, but can go up to over 100% extra time for test-takers with certain visual impairments)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Braille version of the LSAT and other braille resources (such as a braille writer, braille paper, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A large print test-book and permission to take a paper-and-pencil test (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaptest.com\/study\/lsat\/digital-lsat-2019-tips-strategies\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the LSAT is now typically administered digitally<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approval to test using your own computer equipment to utilize screen reader or text-to-speech software<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use of a reader and\/or scribe<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wheelchair accessibility (If you need a specific table height, you\u2019ll be asked to specify the height of the table you need.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Separate room (for small-group testing)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additional break time<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019ll receive equivalent relevant accommodations on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manhattanprep.com\/lsat\/blog\/the-lsat-essay-what-it-is-and-how-to-write-it-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LSAT writing test<\/a>, which is administered separately.<br \/>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h3    avia-builder-el-2  el_after_av_heading  el_before_av_heading  '><h3 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >3. How do I submit a request for LSAT accommodations?<\/h3><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Register for the LSAT well in advance of your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsat-dates-deadlines-score-release-dates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">registration deadline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you\u2019re registered, fill out and sign a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/sites\/default\/files\/media\/candidate-form.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Candidate Form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/document-library\/133\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Evidence of Disability Form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/document-library\/134\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Statement of Need for Accommodation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. These forms must be typed, not handwritten. Then you need to fax, mail, or email the forms to the LSAC before the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsat-dates-deadlines-score-release-dates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">registration deadline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. LSAC is clear that there are no exceptions to this deadline.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LSAC will post a letter of approval or rejection to your LSAC account within 14 days of receiving your request. If your request for accommodations is rejected, LSAC will post a letter explaining their decision.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you wish to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsac-policy-accommodations-test-takers-disabilities\/appeal-procedure-accommodation-requests\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">appeal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a rejection, you have 2 business days after the letter is posted to inform LSAC that you plan to appeal. You have 4 total calendar days from the time the letter is posted to submit your appeal.
