In an effort to reduce barriers for law school applicants, the LSAC (the LSAT test maker) grants fee waivers to qualified applicants.<\/span><\/p>\n<div  style=' margin-top:15px; margin-bottom:30px;'  class='hr hr-custom hr-center hr-icon-no   avia-builder-el-0  el_before_av_heading  avia-builder-el-first '><span class='hr-inner  inner-border-av-border-none' style=' width:50px;' ><span class='hr-inner-style'><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2    avia-builder-el-1  el_after_av_hr  el_before_av_heading  '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >What Do LSAT Fee Waivers Include?<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an effort to ensure that everyone gets a fair shot at receiving a law education regardless of economic status, LSAC has a fee waiver program. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsat-dates-deadlines-score-release-dates\/lsat-cas-fees-and-refunds\/fee-waivers-lsat-credential\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to LSAC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the fee waiver covers the following expenses:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An unlimited number of LSATs during the current and following two testing years<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LSAT Writing exams<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/applying-law-school\/jd-application-process\/credential-assembly-service-cas\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CAS (Credential Assembly Service) registration<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Six CAS Law School reports<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2    avia-builder-el-2  el_after_av_heading  el_before_av_heading  '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >Who Qualifies for LSAT Fee Waivers?<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fee waivers are only open to those who<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> cannot<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pay for the LSAT and Credential Assembly Service (CAS). Don\u2019t apply if you\u2019re just reluctant to pay the fees, or you think the LSAT and other law school application components are overpriced. LSAC will reject your application. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsat-dates-deadlines-score-release-dates\/lsat-cas-fees-and-refunds\/fee-waivers-lsat-credential\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to LSAC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in addition to demonstrating extreme need to qualify for the fee waiver you must:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be a U.S., Canadian; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be a U.S. National; or\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be a permanent alien of the U.S. with an alien registration card; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Granted deferred action under DACA; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applied for deferred action under DACA; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be a permanent resident of Canada; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be a refugee in Canada<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To demonstrate your financial need, you will have to submit tax documentation as requested by the LSAC.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2    avia-builder-el-3  el_after_av_heading  el_before_av_heading  '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >How to Apply for an LSAT Fee Waiver?<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First, apply for a fee waiver through your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/os.lsac.org\/release\/startup.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LSAC account<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You can apply for a fee waiver up to a year before registration date of your desired LSAT Exam date<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You\u2019ll have 45 days after you fill out your application to submit your federal tax forms, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/document-library\/138\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Verification of Nonfiling Form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (if you weren\u2019t required to file a federal tax return), and DACA documentation, if applicable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your LSAC file will be put on hold until your fee waiver is approved. That doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t take the LSAT\u2014it just means that until your waiver is approved, you won\u2019t receive your score and your scores won\u2019t be sent to any law schools.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The LSAC usually takes up to four weeks to review fee waiver applications and any accompanying documentation. You will receive the decision via email. If the LSAC approves your fee waiver, the hold will be lifted from your account and you and any law schools you indicated will receive your LSAT score. Your fee waiver is good for the current and following two testing years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the LSAC denies your fee waiver, you may appeal one time. It may take LSAC 2-3 weeks to review your appeal.
