In 2026, the AAMC Fee Assistance Program application opens on February 2nd. AAMC fee assistance will be available to you until December 31st of the calendar year after the year in which you receive approval. The fee assistance isn\u2019t retroactive; if you\u2019ve already taken the MCAT or sent in your applications and then realize that you would have qualified for the AAMC Fee Assistance Program, you won\u2019t be able to apply and be reimbursed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"application\">How do I apply for the AAMC Fee Assistance Program?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The process for applying to the AAMC Fee Assistance Program is subject to change, so be sure to <a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/fee-assistance-program\/fee-assistance-program-fap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">check the AAMC\u2019s website<\/a> for the most up-to-date process. In general, the steps for completing your AAMC Fee Assistance Program application are shown below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Step 1: Create an AAMC Profile and begin the application.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensure the information you provided when you first registered for an AAMC account is accurate and complete. This information will auto-populate the first page of the FAP application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Step 2: Fill out personal information.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This will include contact information and proof of a U.S.-based address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Step 3: Fill out personal financial information.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll be required to provide the following information:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll be required to provide the following information:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Marital status<\/li><li>Family size<\/li><li>Taxable income<\/li><li>Educational financial aid you\u2019ve received<\/li><li>Housing and food assistance you\u2019ve received<\/li><li>Income earned while living abroad<\/li><li>Social Security benefits<\/li><li>Other federal, state, or county benefits (such as food stamps or housing vouchers)<\/li><li>Financial gifts<\/li><li>Alimony\/spousal support\/child support\/other financial support<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Step 4: Fill out parental financial information (if applicable)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are under 26 years of age at the time of submission, you\u2019ll be required to submit your parents\u2019 financial information, regardless of your tax filing status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Step 5: Review your application<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Read the application summary and double-check that the information you provided is correct. Once you\u2019ve submitted the requested documentation, your application status will change to \u201cSubmitted\u201d and \u201cPending Verification.\u201d You will then be informed of AAMC\u2019s decision. If you\u2019re approved for the AAMC Fee Assistance Program, congratulations!
