Remember: you’ve got this!

  • Job Interview Tip #1: Do your research.

Take time to browse the company website and come up with 3-5 questions you can ask as part of your job interview. These questions should demonstrate your understanding of the company and highlight why you’re a good fit for the role.

  • Job Interview Tip #2: Match their tasks to your talent.

Look at the job description and make a list of everything you’ve done that will make you a great fit for the role.

  • Job Interview Tip #3: Practice, practice, practice!

Talk to a career counselor at school, or ask a friend or family member to do a mock job interview with you. Be clear with them about your goals so they give you honest feedback.

  • Job Interview Tip #4: Remember, your interview has already started!

Your job application, resume, and all communication you’ve had with the company makes an impression on your potential future employers. Make sure your email address, voicemail recording, and social media accounts are professional and appropriate. Use every chance you can to show the company why you’re the right fit for the position.

  • Job Interview Tip #5: Expect the unexpected.

For a phone interview, have a friend call you first to check cell phone service and background noise. For a video interview, check your internet speed and background ahead of time. For an in-person interview, drive to the location of the job interview ahead of time so you know what to expect.
